What is a Dental Implant?

Dental Implant gives us the ability to replace the roots of teeth in order to act as the foundation to the missing tooth or teeth. Dental Implants are made out of biocompatible materials (mostly Titanium) allowing bone and tissue to fuse to them and support the functioning tooth replacement.

Dr. Mazen Duraini may place Dental Implants in order to support one missing tooth or teeth, depending on your needs. Prior to having any Dental Implants you would typically visit for a consultation. During your consultation you would undergo the appropriate examination and imaging needs, and to discuss the nature of your procedure.

Advantages of Dental Implants

Dental Implants have quickly become the golden standard for replacing teeth. They are the only form of tooth replacement that is structurally sound and complete. A Dental Implant with a crown does not depend on surrounding teeth for support and does not compromise your remaining teeth in the process. Dental implants are not susceptible to decay and are easier to maintain. Due to the nature and position of Dental Implants they help preserve the form of your jaw bone and decrease the chance of future bone loss.

Immediate Dental Implants

As the technology used to manufacture Dental Implants continues to improve so have their predictability and ease of use. In most cases we are now able to replace teeth at the same time as the extraction (referred to as an Immediate Dental Implant). This will reduce the number of surgeries, healing time and overall cost. The decision to perform Immediate Dental Implants would be discussed during your consultation with Dr. Duraini.
